Cycling: The Christening

First outing for the new speedbike today (only collected it yesterday).

Would you put £1600 worth of precision British engineering through this on it's first day?

Well the alternative was to retrace back 15km! So it's definitely christened now

On the plus side we found this lovely old manor, not far from home, that I didn't even know existed


Nothing else worth showing, I'm afraid.

I can't imagine spending £1600 on anything you have to use physical exertion in order to proceed but it does look very nice.. even dirty (which I guess it's not now)

I paid £1000 for 1 year old motorbike!

One of the lads at work paid about the same for one of those little folding bikes. Its worth more then his Suzuki Bandit

That first muddy puddle is always a bit of a sickener.

The real tears come when the first stone chip lands on your frame..

After the first one's out of the way then you kind get used to the rest.

Thanks, gents. I have to admit that I can't remember when I was last so excited about a new toy Seriously, it was probably my brand new Honda VF750 around 1980ish!

BTW do you want to know how I got through that gate without getting my feet wet? The water was about 5ins deep in the middle. I rode the bike so that it was parallel to the gate, climbed on to the gate, lifted the bike over my shoulder, then remounted the other side and rode off I wouldn't have the strength to do that with a cheaper, heavier bike!
