Help with the "amazing" BAC one eleven

Post by fulanito_uk »

Hi all,

I have a quick question about the BAC 1-11 (David Maltby) which is one of my favorite planes available for fs2004 outstanding! However I recently made my self a little custom paint job and wanted to tour around Ecuador in it, I'm sure you get the idea when you see below:

My first leg was from Guayaquil to Quito, however when I tried to take off from Quito to carry on my little tour I had to abort about 3 take offs as at that alt. my plane simply can't take off... I tried with water injection but still no joy. Any ideas?!

Many Thanks

You could try reducing your weight :)

When you say you can't take off....what do you mean?? :dunno:

If you mean the airspeed isn't there then you are over weight

if you mean the airspeed is there but you can't lift then it is probably tail trim setting and or flap setting. *-)

It was those conditions the 475 was developed with more power and lift, so you are actually trying to use the wrong type of One-Eleven unless you want to reduce your weight by a fair bit.

Most FS aircraft load overweight by default so it's worth checking that too.

Thanks Dave

I knew it was high but didn't have the figures. That is as I mentioned why the 475 was developed :)

The model used here is a 200....the lowest powered version which will be struggling there.

Hi Fulanito,

I've been taking off at Quito in a 500series, so you should manage too -
check your aircraft is configured as follows:

Maximum weight 5000 lbs.
Flaps 18 Deg
Trim 3 Deg (as usual!)
Top temp on (always hot there)
Water injection armed

And always click the speed chinagraph to get the right T/O speeds...

Saludos,

Nick

That might be a bit difficult as the empty weight is 54582 lbs :)
