Cycling: On top of the world

I explored some new areas today, including some new bits of Salisbury Plain. I came across the grass airstrip (not shown on the OS map) where the C130s practise grass landings and drops. The bridleway runs alongside it but there was nothing happening as the 130s are overseas doing it for real! A couple of miles further on found me on one of the highest points of the Plain which provided a panorama and solitude that's very difficult to find in the south of England. I tried to capture it on video but it doesn't really do it justice.

And here are three stills from different parts of the ride. I covered 20 miles off-road today which is no mean feat for someone with a bus pass And when I got back I cooked a roast dinner! Superman or what?

Are you sure you live in the South of England Ian?? To the best of my knowledge, all that exists down there is panorama and solitude

BTW.. loads of fat unfit old blokes with beer-guts wearing tight fitting cycling pants have been past the pub this weekend.. on pushbikes too! I've tried to keep an eye out for you (just in case) but the nausia has been overwhelming I also saw a Jag XF with a space-saver wheel on which made me smile

You're looking for me in the wrong place, Dave. I'll be off over the hills! Also I'm no longer fat, unfit or have a beer gut - and you won't see any Lycra unless you look under my baggies but I have been exploring the Ridgeway in your general direction and perhaps by the end of the season I may make it all the way

I haven't felt this fit since I was about forty. I no longer get sciatica, bursitis, lower back pain, sinusitis or regular headaches. I've acheived it by doing something that I enjoy in glorious countryside which has also given me great peace of mind. The only thing it hasn't cured is my tendency towards sarcasm - so careful what you say, young man
