A new lease of life for FS9
Well, it's not classic, it's not British, it isn't even real, but I thought I'd give you the heads up on a new release from Lionheart (William Ortis) just posted over at the Outhouse - he has released a new FS9 model of the Boeing '797' blended wing body concept aircraft, go here (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/s ... hp?t=41164) for details.
Why would you be interested, and why have I posted it in Developers Corner? Because he has found a way to overcome the poly limits. He is calling it the 'Unlimited Export System', and the technicalities are way beyond me (read this thread, http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/s ... hp?t=40723, for how it works) - installing now, meeting a friend for lunch, then seeing how this beast works in FS9. Expect screenies later today.

Cheers Andy
I saw some talk the other day about some coding to fool the compilers.......not looked into it but the frame rates could be an issue

Well, I took her up for a spin, from Seattle of course - which meant my system was coping with FlyTampa Seattle, Ultimate Terrain (with everything except water selected) & FSG meshes, Zinertek Water, Flight Environment clouds & weather, 100% of all the AI that WOAI and MAIW could manage for the area and Bill's new beast, all at a resolution of 1600 x 900 @ 32 bit! My rig uses an Athlon II X4 630 cpu, 23 gig of DDR2 RAM and a Radeon HD 4550, so by no means a super computer; it ran all the above at a steady 25-30+ fps, not a single stutter, smooth as silk!Garry Russell wrote:Cheers Andy

I've got some screenshots which I need to upload somewhere (after reducing to 800 x 600 of course!! ), so hopefully later today you'll be able to see them. As an exercise to prove a concept it has worked admirably, the implications it has for FS9 are thought provoking!

Interesting indeed.
Look forward to examining this more closely
I had the sort of rebuild the Superfreighter twice because of the limit.

Er, yes! 2 gig was what I meant - as you can see, my next purchase will be a new keyboard, then a new brain!DaveB wrote:Ay Caramba I sencerely hope that's a typo.. 23 gig of DDR2 RAM

PHEW!
You know Andy.. I'll lay odd's that someone here probably does have 23gb of ram onboard. Remember the old saying.. 'There's always one'
BTW.. it's not me. I'm poor and also run 2gb DDR2

Plan is to add in another 2 gig as soon as finances allow; as I'm using Windows XP that will be my limit until I make the jump to Windows 7, but don't see that happening anytime soon!
OK, as promised, a couple of screenshots to whet the appetite!

It's not the size of your RAM that counts, it's what you do with it Garry!Garry Russell wrote:1gb DDR1
