Classic British Flight Sim

The last British Airways scheduled service by a Boeing 757 is due to take place on the 31st October

There is an Ian Allan special farewell charter on the 6th of November.

Not a bad fleet service life that.. '83 to 2010. My fellow team mates at Brooklands who worked on the type always speak warmly of the 75'. I wonder if any are booked on one of those Ian Allan flights?

Same with Monarch........a very long service life with them.

Many of the earlier aircraft still serve as DHL freighters in the UK with their original BA registrations....life in the old girl yet

Excellent safety record too, so how BA with out 757's seems wrong

Sad as it was to see the Trident go, the 757 was indeed a worthy replacement.

I must admit the last time I was on a BA 757 was a few years ago, and it was pretty much knackered then!

Shame to see the flying cigars go.

They were very much part of my youth after the death of the trident

Can't grumble about their service with BA. Done themselves proud. Worthy of retirement I guess.

Never thought I would see the day when I saw a 757 as a classic!

On the flip side of success

In the last week or so....two 3 and a half year old....yes just 3.5 year old Frontier Airbus A.318's have been flown away for parting out and scrapping.

Asa an aside.the three leased easyJet 757's have gone now along with the last of the carriers A.321's

I've always said that about French build quality..

The wings are British ...maybe that's the only good bits

The latest A.319 G-EZGD was delivered from Germany today and this afternoon it was on it's way from Gatwick to Malaga......just landed back at LGW a few minuets ago

I forgot about the wings.

Can't complain about the scarebus in all honesty.

Got me home safely from some nasty holidays over the years.

There are a few A.320's being scrapped now but they are the early ones and have done a lot of service

As to the 318's I have no idea but being of limited appeal they may well have been snapped up as a cheap source of very good spares.


I don't think there is anything wrong with the type other than no one seem to want many...the 737-600 has suffered a similar fate.

Still a smaller unpopular version has it's uses as you might well find that a carrier buys a larger fleet of semi compatible aircraft because om the commonality across the fleet.

I still can't get used to scrap yards full of DC 10 and TriStars let alone A.318's, 146 and some 757 and 767 which doesn't seem that long ago when they went jointly to Farnborough as the "latest thing"
