WHERE ARE ALL THE BRITISH CLASSICS for FSX ??

Post by Erich »

Hi guys

Over many months I have been transitioning to FSX, finally deleted FS9 from my HD. However, I'm mostly still bushflying... my current rig doesn't like cities or heavy AI, so I am, for the most part enjoying Orbx's Australia and PNW regions. Really great.

One thing I really loved about FS9 though was the diversity of aircraft, in particular the British classics. Frankly, I could never go back to FS9 now, it's just...not nice...after months in FSX. I know Just Flight are doing the Comet and we have good Spits and Hurricanes about now. I miss the HS748's, the BAC1-11, Tridents, Chipmunks, Provosts etc. I was at the De Havilland Museum again last weekend and wished that the Dove and Heron and especially the HS125 could be replicated for FSX with a high quality VC. I'm sure i saw something about the HS125/Dominie some time back, can't remember where.... I'm guessing this is the best plce to ask.

Cheers
Erich

Many high-quality FS9 models found here or at classic british files, are either FSX-portable (FS9 models that works quite well in FSX, with only a few or no modifications) or even genuine FSX models.

Some are a bit of "trail and error", but well worth they try.

Based on what I have installed and tried.

VC models that work in FSX
HS.748
Comet
BAC 1-11
Chipmunk
Trident
Meteor T7
FS9 Austers

Non-VC models that work
VC-10
Vanguard
Viscount
Argosy
HP Dart Herald

I haven't tried the Viking, Valetta or Varsity but see no reason why they wouldn't either if the others do.

I've got most of those on Darren's list, plus Rick's Provost and Andover.

A few very minor problems, but nothing major.

Isn't it a VC view only though, the switches don't work with the mouse if I remember correctly. Or has that been updated?

Darren

Paul Gausden has an FSX BA Swallow that is beautiful, Keith Paine'a Proctors, and Miles racers will port over to FSX

Any of Dave Molyneaux's models will port over as well.

And of course Paul will have a FSX Luton Minor along shortly , and Rob Richardson will have a Beagle Bassett -- There is also a Beagle Airedale for FSX over at the Pond (www.classicbritishfiles.com) Plus Jens Bs
Comet 1 /2, Bristol Britannia, Hermes, Many of Ted Cooks LATER fs9 models (including the Lincoln and the Miles aircraft) will also port over to FSX with the usual caveats (Prop disks and glass) SO there are ALOT of choices of Classic British aircraft to fly in FSX.

Cheers
