Hello,

The VC-10 has INS as one of the navigation aids. What about the Vanguard or other british aircraft?

Shorthaul aircraft like the Vanguard and Trident and 111 didn't really have any need for INS...They just had a couple of VORs and a couple of ADFs as the mainstay of their navigation. Decca was also used, on the 111, while it still existed but when the chains shut down they just made do with VORs and ADFs.

for the answers. That is what I thought, that the mid- and short range planes mostly used VOR/NDB navigation.
However, my (solely MSFS!) experience is, that even for a midrange flight, INS can come in handy.

GPS is far handier...All modern airliners that use INS, keep the INS position corrected by reference to GPS. GPS updates itself with a new fix every second or less

Hello Peter,

I am sure that GPS is much easier. However, I am currently in a "classic" period of my FS usage. Hence I try to fly as they did in the 60-70´es. Over at HJG, they have intentionally removed GPS.
