Tinmouse 737-200, HJG 727-100

Post by ajb »

I'm tearing my hair out with both of these aircraft! Both have a Richard Probst panel and both sound a warning horn continuously whenever the thrust is increased beyond taxi speed! I've checked through the manuals, checked every system on every panel (well I reckon to have anyway!) and can't find a reason for the warning horn. It's got to be something obvious, surely, but I can't find out why. Any ideas folks?

I don't think so Garry. I've tried loads of different settings, none worked :|

TBH.. I think I had this too so I removed the offending gauge. Dirty but effective :) Oh.. this on the Tinmouse 732. No idea about the HJG 727.

It might be linked to FSSound.dll (off the top of my head) as certain 'sounds' were made with different versions. Sounds reasonable but there doesn't seem to be a great deal of compatibility between versions so what will work seemlessly with one model won't work with another or throw up errors like the one you describe. Not sure of a way round it as changing the FSSound.dll version might make one work but 'F' up another *-)

I like that solution Dave, quick and dirty hehe  The two panels are very similar and by the same author so I guess that the problem is common to both. It'll be interesting to see if anything conks out as I'm flying along :-O

Cheers!

Just an idea (from memory perhaps?) - try pressing the "/" Spoilers key twice to make sure they're retracted/fully down.

The other thing - on approach make sure you arm the Spoilers before landing or, the same/similar siren goes off continually on finals.

It is a config horn - and you can silence it by pulling up the throttle pedestal - on the right rear end is a lever to cancel the horn. Used to be about the only thing the Engineer did in flight. It will also sound if you close the throttles with the gear up, try to extend flap to fast etc etc

I found the 727 manual and sure enough it's a config thing. My problem was trim. Although I kept it in the green area of the gauge some settings - the ones I used - were clearly seen to be out of config! Now I know I can adjust the trim setting prior to takeoff and stop the noise!!

Thanks for all of your help guys.

T/O CFG warning horn !
Control locks or misconfigured flaps or trim???
Garry's "on to it" ! :)

Prior to taxi .... and T/O .... a few degrees of TRIM must be set .... OR .... when power is advanced in order to start taxiing the T/O CFG warning horn will be triggered and cannot be cancelled until (a) TRIM is set .... or (b) power is retarded back to idle.

This is all true of the PROBST/HJG B727 panels used with the VISTALINERS B727's and HJG FDE. I have to assume that the same might apply to the PROBST B737-200 panel too when used with the TIN MOUSE 2 B737-200 and FDE.

FYI .... I recommend setting TRIM manualy using "HOME" (TRIM UP) and "END" (TRIM DOWN) keyboard commands.
