Photoshop locked layers

Post by Garry Russell »

I'm fast losing my docs :worried:

Every time I try to unlock a locked layer the layer becomes implicitly locked and won't unlock

I've searched on the net but have the usual where others have the same problem and are led around in circles without a solution being given   :'( :'(

Anyone else had this??

Garry,

a bit of a long shot, but it might be something to do with layer names, see if the following helps: -
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/327/327827.html
or
http://www.photoshopcafe.com/tutorials/ ... Layers.htm

Hi Gordon

Thanks anyway

It's nothing like that :'(

The layers have been in use for a long time and the logo is only partly grey as it would be with locking transparency or position....part locked in effect

The layer in question were fully locked and have been unlocked and re locked many times.

Now if I try to unlock it goes to a partly grey display and says it is illicitly locked......that is not an option that I can see and once there it can not be changed, there for.. not be edited. :-O

This is not a normal locking function as far as I can see and a source of problems for many.

The background can never be edited and that is the only one called that and is at the bottom, more than a hundred layers below where my problem is.

The annoying this is, because it is lock I can't even delete so I have to create a new document and drag across the layers and groups that are no affected and re make the offending layers.

I can't even copy the layer without the illicit lock remaining in place. :'(

Hi Joe

The background layer is well over a hundred layers below where I'm getting the problem.......it's nothing to do with any of the locking functions as such.the document is changing to illicit locking which seem to be some sort of secure thing

Other groups in the doc are behaving normally :dunno:

It is a layered document it has not been flattened which would make it one layer

This is a really bizarre prob
