Memory Error in FS9
I know this may have been answered before but can someone please refresh my mind??
FS9.1 Has run very well for ages on my main PC and today I got to within a few miles of Edinburgh when it all stopped ... on the desktop I had a warning message to say FS9 had been closed due to lack of memory on my hard drive.
Weird thing is I fitted a 1Tb hard drive a few days ago, cloning my old drive to it then merging the partition so it sees the whole drive and I have 800Gb free so I know the drive is capable.
Other thing I did recently was to install Ultimate Defrag 3.
My page file is manualy set to 5000Mb
I checked the disc defrag in case it was something the new defragger had done, but in Diskeeper it showed as healthy?
Any clues gratefully looked at
Cheers Tony

You don't say what your OS is Tony...Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

I get this occasionally, usually on within a couple of miles of touchdown on along flight with a complex aircraft. I just put it down to my oldish system, go "oh hum" and crack on with the next flight

It was on a short hop from Glasgow to Edinburgh and about 3 miles to run when it happened. Wonder if its a scenery issue??

Re: Memory Error in FS9
Well it is certainly not the size of your hard-drive that gives you the out-of-memory fault, but that amoun of installed RAM.
something is using up all the available RAM and then you get the OOM error ... try the exact same route again during same type of conditions if you can, and see if you can re-create the error, maybe in order to either rule in or out any scenery issues og something else ....

Hi Dan, yes with that HD and RAM I should be ok with everything... I just did the same route again but this time I let Windows determine the page file and also I found an extra EGPH AFCAD so I dumped that, this time all went well, so not sure if I fixed it or its waiting round the corner to get me again

Re: Memory Error in FS9
In that case you need to apply the 3 Gigabyte fix to your machine to allow it to see more of the 4 Gigs that you have installed...Look it up at Microsoft but do not get confused and apply the 4 gigabyte fix, as that only applies to 64 bit OS.
