Nice sounds for Ricks meatbox

Post by DispatchDragon »

Neville Hepburn has made a very nice if slightly large sound for Ricks T7 Meteor (also works nice with the Alpha Mk3/8)
Very accurate right down to that wonderful tinkling of compressor blades as it spools down.

Its at http://www.britsim.com now

I have downloaded the file about 8 times and it's always corrupted as is almost every file i have tried from Britsim.

Can you please not use +$£&* etc in .zip filenames as i am pretty sure Windows 7 & Vista can't extract such named files properly without some sort of corruption ;)

Rick

WinRAR had no problem with the "+" in the name.

If you don't have it, 7Zip does it without issue and it's free. Win7 here too.

I often got the same as Rick incomplete/corrupt download neither winrar or winzip would open it both said the same thing incomplete/corrupt download. There is something fundamentally wrong there, time of day does'nt seem to matter, as I downloaded 7 x 60 mb files and a 95 mb file from other sites with no problems size does'nt seem to matter either.

This is on XP Pro using Firefox and IE.

Banned from there now so it does,nt matter, what I would like to see is authors spreading their offerings around not confining to 1 outlet that gives problems.

Hi Neville

I am not sure if it's to do with the filename ;)

Just never seen a + in a .zip filename and some compresion programs do not allow anything other than .-_ in the names

Got the file eventually and it unzipped fine.
when it was being corrupted i was thinking it might be the naming but it's most likely not but something to do with the download system used on Britfiles.

So don't panic ;)

Rick

I've had this problem many times. The download appears to get timed out. I've actually watched the progress of a download, and when it says "complete" it isn't. Only part of the file is there, and when attempting to unzip it, the corrupt notice is displayed.

I live in Surrey and get less than 1MB download speed. I'm sure that slow speeds are the cause of the problem.
