No puff in my BAC 111

Post by spot »

Hi Guys,
I'm teaching myself how to fly the 111-200. :S and was wondering what is
the average sort of figure I should be looking for, feet per minuet on the VSI
during the climb. I seem to run out of puff at about 20.000ft. :worried: Have I missed
something ? Got to get it sorted befor i go for my T.R.

Thanks in antisipation Brian..

Forget the VSI, climb at 280KIAS/M0.72. Rate of climb will fall away and the last few thousand feet to cruise level will be slow.

I tend to sacrifice some speed to keep the climb at least 1,000 ft/min to a FL280 cruise. Whether or not that's worhtwhile though...

Okay, you keep saying the 1-11 is more pocket than rocket.
Do we really need to discuss that? If so, I'll throw so-called "progress" into the pot:
Remember, they killed the Concorde, they ceased to produce the TU154 but they let the Dash8 survive.
See it that way and you got enuff puff to be back in business in a 1-11 2011 flight sim environment.

;) :hide: ;)

What's wrong with the Dash Eight?? *-) ...The Q400 is a superb machine that burns less than a third of the fuel of a jet on our routes, many of which we would have lost if the aircraft wasn't flying on them. :worried:

One of the most reliable types we've ever seen

Of the four classic jet liners that Dave M has offered, the 1-11 is the one I've flown the most.

Whether that's due to performance or nostalgic reasons (Caledonean version was one of my faves to spot from 'handbrake hill' in Gütersloh) is irrelevant - it's a joy to fly in FSX and has had a regular place in my Air Hauler companies (see sig) since I first discovered it.

And that from someone who otherwise rarely flies the 'big - or in this case not so big - iron'. :)

Oh - and I've never had it above FL12, either ;)

Screw realism - it's fun!

I find myself hoping thats a typo, since FL12 is a mere 1200 feet? :wasntme: You don't mean FL120 do you by any chance?

Now wouldn't that be fun!

Don't go giving me ideas! :excited:

I actually put 120 first, then 'corrected' it to 12. :dunno:
