VC-10 with VC
Hi chaps
I guess this is the best place to ask. As I am 100% a virtual cockpit flier, I am looking for a VC-10 kitted out with a VC. The only one I can find is Addictive Simulations. Does anyone have the FSX model ? If so, what's your assessment of it? I'm looking for something akin to Brian Franklin's Nimrod (in flight dynamics and vc quality).
But looking at the Addictive Simulations model, it certainly doesnt look as good as David Maltby's. Thats probably my answer right there.
Cheers everyone.

Re: VC-10 with VC
Hi erich
The only VC10 I know of with a VC is the Addictive Sim model. For what it's worth.. I can't imagine the FSX version being any better or worse than the old FS9 model. It'd be nice if it were more like a VC10

Re: VC-10 with VC
Would it be too mad to suggest using the Addictive Simulations VC-10 virtual cockpit with Dave Maltby's VC-10s?
It'll be a "project"

Re: VC-10 with VC
I could be wrong about this (and I'll go away and try) but I have a distinct feeling that you can add an FSX VC to an FSX model but not an FSX VC to an FS9 model...
I'll report back when I've had a tinker.

That is as I understand it too Dave. The original has to be to the FSX SDK though and I guess you may need the source code to get into the model in the first place

Re: VC-10 with VC
Right, the Addictive model in an all-in-one as far as I can see (you need the model folder to contain an "internal" file as well to add a VC), so I'm just gonna try to add something alien to it and will report back.

Re: VC-10 with VC
If it's an FS.X model
In FS.X the VC is a separate model in the sim.
They are seperate in FS.9 and before too, but in those sims the two models and any other model making up the aeroplane are compiled into one.
If you were think of doing that and I doubt you can it this case, it is worth remembering that the model is likely to use special coding for it's native panel and the VC might not work properly.

Re: VC-10 with VC
On other thought worth checking
Many developers don't allow their models to be used in any other form other than the authors release and some take steps to prevent their VC's being added to other models.
Best to seek permission always before trying anything like this.

Re: VC-10 with VC
Thanks for that Garry,
all my FS9 models I have working in FSX have only 1 mdl file, there's no evidence of an 'internal' file in the model directory nor the mdl cfg file.
I've tried and failed adding a freeware FSX panel to a freeware FS9 a/c in exactly the same way I successfully did it to 2 separate FSX model 'parts' (intl/ext) so am guessing that unless you can get into the model source code then you're unfortunatley stuck with the 2D panel on the '10.
