David Maltby's VC-10 for FSX

Post by lysiaboy »

Hi, this is my first ever post on this forum!!

I am a budding flight simmer. some of my favorite planes include, the aforementioned VC-10, the Convair 990, Lockheed constellation (FAV propliner), and others which I can't remember now.

anyways, could somebody perhaps produce a guide, or if there is one already, show me the link to it, on how to get David maltby's excellent VC-10 to be available in FSX?

thanks, I would be eternally grateful.

lysiaboy.

Hi lysiaboy and welcome to the forums

Have you had a look here... http://www.cbfsim.org/cb-bb/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=17443 ? There's much talk about the 1-11's in that thread but I'm sure you'll find info on the VC10's there too as Davids file structures remain the same across all of his models.

thanks for the warm welcome dave!!

unfortunately (and believe me I've tried), the VC-10 and 1-11 file structure is slightly different (the 1-11 has an installer), so it always confuses me. with the 1-11, there is supposed to be like, aircraft texture and effects, whereas with the VC-10 all of them are aircraft, for me at least or I'm being a complete moron.

so... yeah.

I've not downloaded either for a long time which probably means the versions I have are not 100% up to date. However, as with the 1-11.. the VC10 breaks down to aircraft type (eg, VC10 1101, 1103, Super VC10).. the sound files go into DMFS Shared Files as do the panels and documentation. All are aliased from the aircraft to DMFS Shared Files so other than the 1-11's having an installer, I can't see what the differences are. The VC10 doesn't currently have a VC so may not be best suited to FSX.. the smoke fx are slightly wrong in FSX and some of the custom popup window icons may not work straight out of the box due to the way FSX works but other than that, it is quite possible to simply drag the VC10 from FS9 to FSX and it will work. While it won't work exactly the same as it did in FS9, it's also true to day it didn't work exactly the same in FS9 as it did in FS8 but it did still work :)

Loads of guys here use the VC10 in FSX so hopefully, one of them will come and help out rather than watch me struggle (I rarely use FSX) ;)
