HS.748 with default Bendix

Post by dc_pilot »

Hi!

Yup, I know this is not good. But I DO want to try the HS.748 with the default Bendix autopilot, navigation and communication equipment. Anyone done that modification? Anyone willing to share his/her panel.cfg or give me advice how to do that.

And yes, I will back up the original ones so I can come back to the old school style! ;)

Hi dc_pilot and welcome :)

I don't believe Fraser used any odd code with the 748 so default nav aids should be able to be used. I use FSNavigator with the 748 and I know it doesn't tolerate 'special' code :)

What sim are you using?

Hi dc_p :)

Rgr that ;) Fingers crossed someone will be able to help you out. I neither use FSX or VC's I'm afraid.

Adding the autopilot as a popup is easy. Adding it so it shows as part of the VC is a bit more awkward, depending on how the VC panels are setup, & you may have to replace something that's already there.

Which do you want? Let me know & I'll have a look at what can be done.

Well, thanks for trying to help me, Dave G.!!

I fly from the virtual cockpit. I would like to have a "modernized" 748, with the default autopilot integrated to the 3d panel, perhaps it could replace the useless registration # on the panel or the autopilot or down there by the trim wheel to replace the original ap. Pop-up ap would be useful too. Perhaps the radio stack in the over head should be replaced to make the cockpit look like it´s gone thru a major modernization...

dc_p..

That sounds rather more like a major refit than what could have been a moderately simple one for one matey. The 748 was made to represent 'period' instuments.. that's how we like em here ;)

I'll need to re-install the 748 first. I'll add a pop-up & see if the AP can be fitted to the VC panel. Any other mods you'll have to work out yourself.

OK, a very quick & dirty edit of the panel.cfg. Replaced the standard 748 radios etc with FSX default Bendix equipment in the overhead & popups. :hide: 8)
748 autopilot is still there, so don't try and use both at once.

Backup your panel.cfg first!

Thanks, DaveG! I´ll give it a try, lets´see

DaveB, yes I do know, HS748 was made to represent the original style. What I want to do is to fly sometimes with that way sometimes as a 748 that has been re-worked. As far as I understand, many of the old birds still flying are more or less "imroved" with new equipment. Why not in a simulators have possibility for different styles?
