VC10 Schoolboy Error

Post by TSR2 »

Scratch that :wall:
Hi Chaps,

I've been having a lot of hassle fying the VC10 and Super VC10 for the VA in FSX, in that after a period (usually in excees of an hour) of time the sim freezes completely, but if you leave it for 5 or 10 minutes it comes back to life! but the same thing can then happen at more frequent intervals. On yesterdays flight to Nairobi it did this at least 5 times. Anyway, I've tried everything, disabling addons / disabling weather etc etc but to no avail. Last night however, the penny dropped, it was the aircraft sounds!

You can check this for all DM's aircraft, but the others I have were already done.

Go to Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\DMFS Shared Files\ Vickers VC10 Panel
Open Panel.cfg in notepad
Search for ".\aircraft\DMFS Shared Files"
Replace with ".\SimObjects\Airplanes\DMFS Shared Files"

Save the changes.

The Panel should now be able to find Doug Dawsons dsd_xml_soud3.gau that the panel uses, and so far, no more hangs.

Note this is only of use where you have installed DM's aircraft into the \SimObjects\Airplanes\ folder in FSX. If you want to check the other models, open their respective panel.cfg files and check they aren't referencing the FS9 folder structure ;)

For my next trick, Doug has written an FSX version of his gauge called dsd_fsx_xml_sound which also works in FS9, so I might have a go and see if I can convert the VC10 to use that gauge... or maybe not
