Chipmunk install

Post by Russruspy »

Need a bit of help installing the Chipmunk in FSX. Instructions say post contents of zip into aircraft folder. I have several folder from Alpha Sim etc. OK but does that mean all of it or less the effects it suggests should be posted in effects folder? Do I just chuck the contents of effects into that folder or the folder itself? The instructions don't seem to match the file structure in FSX? Looks like a great sim and I would very much like to add it. Cheers RP

Hi Russ and welcome

I'm not sure what pack you're using (or version).. v3 was the final version.. but as far as the install goes, you can either drop the effects folder onto your FSX root folder (it will warn that a folder called effects already exists, do you want to overwrite... answer YES. It will not overwrite, it will simply add the contents to the main effects folder).. OR.. open the Chippie effects folder then drag and drop the contents into your main effects folder using 'Copy'.
Likewise with the model itself. I don't have the latest zip handy but you can double click on it.. double click on the Aircraft folder.. then drag and drop (using Copy) the aircraft to your Simobjects/Airplanes folder ;)

Have fun in the old girl.. she's a beaut

Many thanks Dave, keen to recreate a couple of aerobatic flights I had in the 60s in the ATC! I also Steward at Brooklands and frequently use the Chippy cockpit there during education tours- the same cockpit that the sim is based on I believe.
