DM VC10 SMOKE IN FSX
Greetings to the forum.
I am gratefull for the advice posted in this forum to instal the DM VC10 in FSX, having failed too many times I followed the guide posted by TSR2 back in 2009 to the letter and BINGO! it worked.
Everything is fine exept the smoke effect which looks terrible, I see TSR2 had a solution for this with the BAC1-11. Would somebody kindly assist by posting a similar guide to changing the [SMOKE EFFECT]
in the VC10 aircraft cnfg file.
Thanks, Busterbvi.

Hi Busterbvi, & welcome to the forum
Basically, Bens (TSR2s) instructions for the 1-11 can be applied to to the VC10.
You need to re-order the numbers for each entry, so what would be in FS9 :
Smoke.0= -2.50, -57.70, -9.60, DM_VC10_SMOKE_R
becomes in FSX:
Smoke.0= -57.70, -9.60, -2.50, DM_VC10_SMOKE_R
You take the first number & put it last.
Do the same for the other smoke entries.

Thanks for the swift reply Dave, appreciated. And while I am at it, a BIG thank you to all that are involved with these most excellent freeware models that I have enjoyed for years.
Many, many hours of pleasure flying them.
Thank you ALL very much indeed.
Busterbvi.

Re: DM VC10 SMOKE IN FSX
May I take this opportunity for a rather awkward question...
Where do I get that smoke working in FS9?
My 1-11 doesn't do anything for climate change...
Thanks in advance,
Nick

The smoke should work straight out of the box in FS9 Nick. It works in FSX too but comes from the wrong places.. as DG mentioned above, the coordinates or the way the coordinates work in fsx changed

They're linked to throttle settings mate. I can't remember the exact percentage now but it's probably around 92% +/-. Give it some large on takeoff and you'll see smoke. As you throttle back, the smoke will decrease until it reaches the cutoff point.
EDIT: it is 92% Nick, I've just checked

many thanks for your post - and sorry my late reply, I've been very busy the last days. I actually couldn't try either.
But I've watched the aircraft at full throttle many times from the outside - I've never seen smoke developing.
Maybe it's deactivated somewhere in the general settings...

Many thanks again,
Nick

Hi Nick,
I don't think that would be the case mate. If all the elements are in their respective holes, you will get smoke when you open the gas levers above 92%.. or from 92% upwards. Let me have a look Nick. I've checked quickly and I don't have an fx file on this system for it. I'll get back
EDIT: I didn't have the fx file on this system either Nick but a bit of digging has found it. I've uploaded them HERE . Drop the 2 files into your effects folder

Re: DM VC10 SMOKE IN FSX
It should do Nick. When I checked, I had no smoke either but looking in the effects folder, I didn't have the effects! Can't have a 1-11 with no smoke can we
After dropping the 2 files into effects, I had another look and there it is.. a lovely pale brown soot
You know what.. my VC10 smoke effects aren't there either. What the hell have I been doing
