Hey guys,

I'm trying to reach David at david at dmflightsim dot co dot uk, creator of the Trident, but no response from him for months. I'd like to convert his plane to X-Plane, but not without his permission.

Do you know where can I contact him?

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Mihaly

You may know this already: when converting aircraft from FS/FSX to X-Plane it's only the 3D model that carries over. Everything else, in particular the flight model, animations and any plug-in programming would have to be made from scratch. Obviously, inheriting a 3D model would save a shed-load of time and effort, but a lot of work remains. More like re-engineering than a simple conversion. The Dawson/Virtavia Boeing C-17 Globemaster for X-Plane is a perfect example of this.

Did you know that Michael Wilson made a Trident for X-Plane? He originally intended it as payware in 2006, with what would have been one of the first ever 3D cockpits in X-Plane, but found himself with far too much in development at the same time. During a brutal consolidation of current projects in 2009, he decided to release it as freeware as it was until he had time to finish it.

There's a video here. Bear in mind it's over 3 years old and in X-Plane 9:

Hi Guy,

Yes, I know that model, but It's very unfinished. We're already had a Plane-Maker model before the conversion. The conversion of course applies only to 3D model.

All the animations were finished in a week. Comparing that to a full 3D modelling, texturing and animation, it's much time-saver method. Especially when you have 3D model and textures :)

I don't have much time (like when An-2 was made few years ago) that's why we decided about the conversion.

Anyway, thanks and hope some day Mike Wilson can finish his trident as well :)
