Ah...G-XLEA

There was picks a couple of months back when the parts including the already painted fin were being delivered. Not taking so long not to get them together and in the air.

There were rumours that the BA livery would change when the 787 and A.380 came on line but the evidence seems to point otherwise *-)

That flag looks kinda ugly on that 380, which is an ugly pig anyway, at least the 747 has graceful lines, bit like a fat bird with curves whereas the 380 is like a fat bird just on her way into McDonalds.... B)smk

Trouble is mate...double deckers are by nature short fat and ugly....Boeing fatocruiser is a prime example of extreme ugliness

The-900 will look better but it's not possible to stretch a DD to slender proportions as the tail clearance wouldn't be enough to raise the nose to the high angle of attack needed to take off...and it wouldn't fir airport gates or taxyways

The Convair XC-99 was a long DD but that took off flat.

Thats the first time I've seen the 747 described as having 'graceful lines'. What have you been on Tony??? :-O

Yeah.. I think we need someone with a bit of imagination (read flair) to re-jig BA's livery. The front end of the paint isn't bad.. there's not a lot to BE bad but I've never been a fan of that bloody fin. What were they thinking of when they decided on that 8)

I don't think BEARS would suit the 380.. nor FJ. BART would look kind cool I think :)

I don't like the flying flag, but it is made worse by the fade and it's not even a clean fade but a fade using 'screen' type dots.

Doesn't have the same authority as the the older liveries

Dave's point about not suiting older liveries is the reason I loathe the retro schemes. They were designed for the shape they had the..the Vanguard was no doubt instrumental in the RS livery as was the Trident in FJ. In addition the retros use silver instead of natural and that gives the whole look a different edge.

But hey, I'm just an old fart :worried:

I have to say that I always thought that the 747, particularly the shorter-hump 100/200 variants, was quite elegant and certainly simple. It is not, however, flattered by modern liveries and it never looked well in the BA Negus scheme. Classic thin cheat-line liveries like PanAm, Aer Lingus and Lufthansa always looked well on the 747.

A proper set of winglets would probably make them look thinner. ;)
