Atlantique 2 upgrade

As far as I can gather, the Atlantique 2 was a new build from the 80s, rather than an upgraded original airframe - the Atlantic. Now they're due to be upgraded again (see link), though there is no mention to new engines...How do they keep those Tynes going?

Yep

The first ones were Atlantique which went out of production

Later an upgrade version went back into production as the Atlantic 2, sometimes known as Atlantic NG

The Rolls-Royce Allison AE2100H engines, equipped with six-blade composite propellers from Messier Dowty produce 10% more power than the current generation ATL engines, but use 15% less fuel.

Yeh, I saw that Nigel, but according to Wiki...
An Atlantique 3 was proposed in 1995 for the British competition won by the Nimrod MRA4. It would have had a two-man glass cockpit, uprated AE2100H turboprops and avionics upgrades

Well, I think spending millions upgrading some old martime patrol airframes ( only 15 of them ) is a cracking idea. What could possibly go wrong ?
