It's never a flight-simmer left in these situations is it. We'd have done a low flypast inverted before landing

I'm amazed that such an "inexperienced" passenger was able to operate the radio, let alone manage a rough landing.

It's dark at 19:50 BST when he landed, sunset's about 18:30 at the mo. If he had no panel lights on........

Yes and it seams to happen too often. The other week a captain of a airliner had a health problem and died.
