FSX 11?
Better known as P3D V2, due to be released in November (currently in Beta 4). Testers have had NDAs removed so there's a fair few screen shots. Big visual changes appears to be self shadowing, dynamic in-cockpit shadows, dynamic structure shadow, volumetric fog and (at long last) the end of pop-up autogen. Need a DX11 card to run it though. Colours appear to have been tweaked also. Performance sounds good too. Prices and general release info due out from Lockheed this week.

The release date is to be announced tomorrow, 18th Nov, I believe. What's surprised me is the number of developers who've been on board with LM all this time and kept schtum.

I'm not, they seem to have got wise to all the naysayers. moaners and general grumpies that seem to infest the FS world. Not to mention rivet counters DOH! They all had to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) as did the beta testers and as LM have a large group of lawyers at their disposal it's hardly surprising that lips were sealed until the NDA was lifted a few days ago.Paul K wrote:The release date is to be announced tomorrow, 18th Nov, I believe. Well that saves me worrying about should I or should I not buy it...Can Prepar3D be used for entertainment?
No, Lockheed Martin does not offer Prepar3D for entertainment, and we have no plans to enter the entertainment space. The EULAs explain that Prepar3D can be used for purposes other than personal/consumer entertainment.

Larry, yes, I knew about the NDAs but there were developers who, without disclosing any details, didn't categorically deny that they were on board with LM - Orbx and Aerosoft for example. I was unsure about A2A's participation due to the fact they didn't offer technical support for P3D V1 but now all is revealed. Freeware developers too - I believe Dino Cattaneo has been involved.Tako_Kichi wrote:They all had to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) as did the beta testers and as LM have a large group of lawyers at their disposal it's hardly surprising that lips were sealed until the NDA was lifted a few days ago.Paul K wrote:The release date is to be announced tomorrow, 18th Nov, I believe. Tony, no its not intended as entertainment - but that doesn't stop you enjoying using it.

Re: FSX 11?
Sounds like its right up my street then, I hate FSX and its quantum CPU/hardware requirements and this looks like its spawned from the same blood so I would not like this either
