Great find Garry, I enjoyed travelling through time with these pictures, I loved the old days when you could see and smell and hear these beauties at pretty much every airport in the UK

When they used to swing out on the taxyway you weer so close as the tail swung past there was that silence then the noise came back at the same time as the healthy dose of kerosene fumes hit you.
Many years ago I was on the lower ob deck in Jersey on a bitterly cold day. A Swearingen Metroliner started up. It was paked almost but not quite tail on to us but there was a fair delay in clearance.
Our small group formed a huddeled mass in the exaust eflux making good use of the welcome warmth
