Peter Kay at his best… he is 100% correct about the sound of modern lyrics
It is so easy to mishear the lyrics with the modern singers.
If you are as old as me, this is exactly what you think they are singing
They don't come much funnier than this.

Re: Misheard lyrics
Maybe they weren't misheard?
Re: Misheard lyrics
They were great,
The one that has always stuck in my mind was the line in Abba's Super Trouper "called you last nite from Tesco's" made famous by Terry Wogan back in the 1980's.
Roger.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

"I don't care how many times they go up-diddly-up-up; they're still gits."
Re: Misheard lyrics
This thread got me thinking about lyrics that I had misheard and that had niggled at the back of my mind.
One in particular was from that great song 'I'd Really Like To See You Tonight' by England Dan and John Ford Coley.
For ages I thought that the line went - 'I'm not talking 'bout malingering( or something similar ) and I don't want to change your life' when in fact it is actually 'movin' in' which of course makes more sense!
Next time you hear it , listen and see what you think. EricT
ps this difference is best heard on the original commercial release rather on a 'live' session.Check the differences on YouTube.

Now at the age where I know I like girls but can't remember why!

Steve Winwood "Bring me a higher love" has been widely misheard as "Bring me an iron lung"
