End of Flybe Gatwick - Newcastle
Had a rubbish day today as had to get up at 04:00 to get the Flybe flight to Gatwick. On the way back tonight, the 20:10 flight was the last Flybe flight from Gatwick to Newcastle. The crew were obviously a bit emotional, a sad day. The good folk of the North East will have to put up with Sleazy jet from now on.
Ben.

Re: End of Flybe Gatwick - Newcastle
very sad indeed Ben
It's a total shut down for Flybe at Gatwick.
The final flight to Guernsey I think is tomorrow.
From Sunday Aurigny is the sole operator and is putting an Embraer 195 on the route.
Pending delivery of their aircraft in June, they are leasing one from Flybe. G-FBEN being the aircrame concerned.
The Guernsey base is also closing putting many out of work. Flybe will still operate to GUR, but it willl be serviced from the other end.
According to inside sources, Flybe is about to rebrand. Purple uniforms have appeared at Belfast and it is said the aircraft are going purple. The particular shade being the last colour block in the current set under the titles.

Yes mate, there was a note in the inflight mag about a rebranding. On the plus side, they have survived and actually turned profit last quarter, so hopefully through all the pain they have turned the corner.
Ben.

Yes..sad as it is about the job losses, if they had not done what they have then it might have been the end of the airline and of course everyone losing their jobs.
Although never in any iminent danger, a trend had be set that was un sustainable in the long term. Realising this and doing something about it before it was too late is what this has all been about.
