Nice.. and a Mk1 too. ;)

Funny how the Mk1 'looks' old compared to say the Mk5 or Mk9.

Thanks Brian,
Had to look hard, thought it was a scale model at first.

Right Dave,
What I've always said about WWII props; the pressure of war rapidly pushed the designers to the limit.
You can see the improvements over a brief period. Then they couldn't push them further, and went to jets.
Cheers, Mike.
Perspective determines interpretation.

I think the early paint scheme on this one makes it particularly so; the oversized Sqn code with no individual letter, and the oversized roundel. Compare it to AR213, a 1941 Mk 1 which often appears in later colour schemes, and it looks quite different! I think it's also more noticeable as previously both "early" Mk Spitfires (AR213 and the BBMF Mk II) didn't always have early props and spinners (or nice matt paint schemes), which the "new" Mk1s (and AR213, courtesy of Shuttleworth) now have. This made them look more like the later Mks

I probably could have summarised it better... like, along the lines of "modern restoration strive from complete authenticity".

Probably explains the price tags though!
