British Car Meeting (Switzerland) ~60 photos

Post by TobyV »

This was on Sunday at Mollis airfield. I've realised I really like Triumphs a bit too much, so sorry that my photos don't represent the full diversity of what was there, but rather, what caught my eye.

My first time at such an event actually "showing" a car, for which I got a free programme and rather nice scarf to commemorate the event :)

My favourite Aston, pretty close to the one in The Living Daylights (except that had a Vantage bonnet, but not the Vantage skirts)

DIY XJS Shooting Brake? Some Swiss people near me were commenting on the nice colour and tasteful cheatline :-O

At first I thought "something not quite right here", then I thought, why should your chauffeur get the sunshine, he gets paid, doesn't he?

This miniMetro has been owned by the same Swiss guy for 33yrs (he bought it when new from the first batch of Metros to be exported to CH. He's done over 330,000km in it and it's still going and even got through the Swiss MOT equivalent (MFK) 10 times with that unpainted front wing, he told me!

Brilliant Toby, like you I'm a big fan of that Aston. The Dolly Sprint and Esprit rock my boat, as do the various TRs. Great pics.

Forgot the most important car of the lot (that I'd never seen or heard of before), I've enlarged the badge in the inset:

Some nice shots there Toby. I always liked the Triumph TR4A and TR6 models. I once owned a Triumph 2000 TC for a year or so and it was without doubt the worst car I ever had! 8) :(

Hi Toby,

Great photos and you would not find a better venue to hold a meeting,

Most of these cars are my era as i served my 5yr apprenticeship as a panel beater in the late 1950/60's, my favorite amongst them are the Jaguar saloons, you can almost smell the leather!!

I could weep seeing some of those i owned but never thought about saving :(

Thanks for sharing Toby.

Roger.

You can say that again! Nice collection of pics. I'm always on the lookout for my British Racing Green Daimler Dart that was nicked in 1979 from Bayswater Rd W2 never to be seen again. It must be languishing somewhere.

The XJS Estate car is not a DIY effort but is a Lynx Eventer . Now rare but sought after ( well I suppose they were always rare )

I think this one is a one off rather than one of those, it seems to have been converted in Switzerland. The roof line is a bit flatter, it has an extra pillar in the rear glass and the tailgate area looks a little more vertical and angular. See page below:
