I feel sick

Post by paulsl »

One of the reasons I come here is that on most subjects you can get a variety of views and opinions that quite often put things into perspective.

So before I join the legion of people actively seeking the obliteration of the United States of America, can someone please tell me that this is not true.....

The Guardian
The Independent

There is a an article about this in the Daily Fail so I'm hoping that it must not be true.

I just don't know what else to say,

Paul

Not a lot can be said that you're all not already thinking. It beggars belief! 8)

As usual, I'm confused.
The two articles are dated 20th September 2014, yet a link to further comment, reporting that lawmakers have decided to amend the law, goes under this cut & paste heading:

Top Massachusetts court rules 'upskirt' photos to be legal

Man who took pictures of women on Boston subway did not violate state law because the women were not nude, court finds

Hopefully, the law will be changed, but how in blazes did they decide to change it 6.5 months before the ruling? :dunno:
And does it also qualify as freedom of speech and artistic expression to ram the photographers camera where the sun don't shine? :agree:
To further perplex me, the decision was made in Texas, no Massachusetts, or was it Texas? :dunno:

Another cut & paste:

Texas court upholds right to take 'upskirt' pictures

Judges strike down part of statute, saying ‘inherently expressive’ medium of photography is part of right to free speech

Seems it's a current Texas issue and the historic reference is to Boston...TBH I'm not confused by that or am I missing something.

The only thing I am confused about is that this is allowed...but in a country where it seems people have a right to be armed it is not surprising that oddities appear.

I often feel the judges and lawmakers are more out of touch with reality than they are in the UK

Most US citizens are honestly moral people but a few idiots get to speak for the whole nation.

I personally don't know anyone from the US who would support this sort of thing.

Joe's absolutely correct. If we pretend that this stuff isn't happening, then it obviously isn't. Just don't go to Texas. If a 'guy' sticks a camera up your wife's skirt, that's perfectly OK and there's nothing you can do about it.

Mods, please delete this thread, and accept my apologies for being a little perturbed about the way the world is going. Plainly some people think that what is close to rape, is normal and acceptable. God Bless America.

I think it's probably better staying Paul. It's always an eye-opener for us across the pond (as it obviously is to you on that side) how our cousins often conduct themselves! Everything in Texas is noted to be 'bigger'.. this would seem to include it's idiots too! 8)
