Yes, me too, John,
Poor Mandy. RIP.

Puzzled to see that it's listed under blah/blah/ENTERTAINMENT!!?? :dunno:

I recall eagerly studying the little B&W photos in the paper at the time.
Attractive looking pair, and I can still vaguely see that shot sitting reversed on a kitchen/dining chair. Scandalous indeed for a school lad such as me. :worried: (These eyes aren't worried, they're scanning the photos!)

Lordy, lordy, now you've made me feel all old just before Christmas.
Cheers, Mike.

I remember it too. There was a first reading of a Private Member's Bill, aimed at limiting the shortness of mini-skirts, in order to protect the morals of the nation's youth (=me).
Within spitting distance of that, the Profumo Scandal broke, and the subsequent inquiry made it clear that Whitehall and Westminster had more deviates and perverts to the square yard than any other part of the country.
Whitehall was running a vice ring to cater for Westminster's tastes, but they saw nothing wrong with denying a young healthy male like me the enjoyment of seeing a pretty girl dressed in the latest style.
I detest the "Westminster System" because it it is the only environment outside jail where psychopaths can flourish.
I came to that opinion some 50 years ago, and have yet to see anything to make me change my mind.
Off with their heads!!!

Calm down dear, it was only a scandal ( although Ward and Profumo were rather badly treated in my view ) . I do think THE remark ( Well he would say that, wouldn't he ) has become an all time classic, and I chortle every time I hear it

PS Did "attractive looking pair" - per Airspeed - refer to 2 young women or to certain attributes of 1 of them ? ;) ;)

PPS While we're on a vulgar note, I remember the wonderful joke which went round at the time, that Christine Keeler had been picked for the Lords' Test, because she was guaranteed to have the West Indies all in and out by lunchtime

I remember the joke that went: why is Profumo the world's worst carpenter? - One loose screw and the whole cabinet falls apart!

Garry,
Were you in some exclusive boarding school where they vetted your news?

The "attractive pair" WAS deliberately ambiguous, but sadly I never saw the details of either young lady, only their faces. :( :|
It was the 60's and was discussed in hushed tones. The words were scandalous enough.
Cheers, Mike.

I was six and this was UK news not a local thing so I wouldn't have known about it unless my parents told me and I doubt that.

I did know of the affair but not at them time and only knew about Christine, never heard of this one.

Not interested about this years ago and even less now
