FSX steam edition

Post by stevo »

Just in case anyone is unaware, dovetail games who make Railworks simulator have a licensing deal with Microsoft to release FSX. It's called FSX steam edition and is currently on sale at £3.99 on steam, normal price £19.99

http://store.steampowered.com/app/31416 ... _860__1305

I've bought it myself (at that price it would be silly not to) purely because it is now a supported version of FSX it has had some basic updates done to it, mainly multiplayer but you don't need disks anymore. It can co exist with the original FSX....

It's on sale until 6pm today.

I was just reading on the CalClassic forums re FSX & FSXSE sitting together. Apparantly it is possible BUT they share the same scenery.cfg. Uh Oh that`ll be a problem I guess for many of us old campaigners. :wall:

Hi

I dont think that is correct...it uses its own folders as far as I can see

Main FSX is in SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\FSX

In C:\ProgramData\Microsoft is an FSX-SE folder with its own scenery config

in C:\Users\Stevo\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\ is an FSX-SE folder with its own cfg.

It has in no way interfered with my other install of FSX it still has all my scenery addons, while FSXSE doesnt have any additional addons at the moment.

For anyone still thinking about it, FSX Steam is back on sale for £3.99. You'll need to hurry, because what they are calling the 'encore' sale ends Jan 2nd at 1000 EST. At under four quid, I thought I might as well get it, but I won't be installing it unless all the miraculous frame-rate claims are substantiated. P3DV2 is the way forward for me at the moment.
