Hunter and Stratojet

Post by Paul K »

I bought PrecipitFX over Christmas and finally got round to some testing. A definite improvement on default, and thankfully the warp speed starfield rain effects as seen from the cockpit have gone. Anyway, I also had a look at the new contrail effect and took this one of a certain Hunter of this parish. ;) The contrail can be seen upper left.

Another thing I'm doing is resurrecting some of the older models and seeing how they perform in P3DV2.4. Here's the Alphasim B-47, which looks to be very usable. :)

I dug this out again recently. Don't think it looks as good in FSX as it does in P3D to be honest

And it comes without an altimeter ! *-) It does say in the readme that some gauges were replaced in order to make it run in FSX ( or P3Dv2 in my case ). Very good, but I really do need an altimeter.

Don't worry.. I doubt the real one came with an altimeter.. it might have been considered a 'creature comfort'

Never did find either Altimeter or высотомер, Gordon, and that's one shortcoming that's way too short. The Badger has been culled. ;)

Not so this one, which I've just put in to see how it behaves. The Green Party would love it, as it does 300 kts at 29% throttle. *-) 8)

The real problem I have with this, and Alphasim/Virtavia in general, is why the heck they don't revisit some of these older models and update the VCs. I think this Victor looks wonderful and still stands up to scrutiny after all these years. If only they would get someone to update the internals.

Fraser did an updated panel for the Victor.. yes.. Fraser! A departure from his norm for sure  Unfortunately, I don't think it was ever put on general release and I can't remember if it was 2D, 3D or both. Not a lot of use am I 8)

Agree 100% with your comments though. Some of the poop Virtavia are still selling is absolutely rubbish inside. I had the misfortune to buy the Javelin in one of the Christmas sales and it was bad enough buying it in a sale! They really need to get their act together :|
