Factories of Lancasters???

Post by Aharon »

Shalom and greetings all my pals,

After seeing mystery episode of MIDSOMMER MURDERS about murders in an airport, I was surprised to learn that women singlehandedly flew heavy Lancaster bombers during World War 2 ferrying new factory fresh Lancasters from factories to RAF air force bases and flying any damaged Lancasters back to factories for repairs.

My question is where were the Lancaster factories and which airport for FSX default runways?? And what were all Lancaster bases, please?

By the way, the mystery episode of MIDSOMMER MURDERS about murders in an airport featured actions of Lancasters and Spitfires in mint flying condition!!!! That is why I bought FCS Lancaster!!!

Thanks,

Aharon

GHD,

Thanks for informational links.

Is this map link as seen below showing Lancaster bases where Lancasters were delivered to from Manchester, Chadderton, Woodford, and Birmingham?

No, that is where the ferry pilots were based. They would usually be transferred to the factories in Ansons.

Thanks GHD!! You just answered all my questions by giving me link to all factories and all Lancaster air bases!! Now I have to figure out which ones were major Lancaster bombers.

Mrs Lofthouse is truly splendid. In later years she was a school headmistress I believe
