Masking Tape Aircraft

Post by fs10inator »

This is a hobby that I've been doing for over 4 years, starting in November 2009, making aircraft entirely out of masking tape. Since this is CBFSim, here are three aircraft lined up by order of introduction, from back to front:

Viscount, Vanguard, Trident.

Do you run the factory which makes the tape?
It's a novel choice of modelling material.
Must take a while.
Evidently the bright lights of Dubai don't keep you away from home.

Yes. In fact, I AM the factory! It's all thanks to good ol' Neil Buchanan from Art Attack back in '93 when he showed how he made a Roman slab thingy, and the part where he twisted masking tape got me started; in fact, one of the very first parts of my masking tape A300 (which is my very first masking tape plane, and is undergoing a conversion to freighter), the tail, was made by twisting a strip of it.

Well they must be good, 'cause I identified them correctly!

Must be a Bit like making a rubber band ball!

Well that's certainly different and they look really good,

I can still remember my first model i built, it was a Keilcraft Hawker Hunter in Balsa wood where it had to be shaped with sandpaper, that's going back some years :)

Cheers,

Roger.

My very first masking tape aircraft

Post by fs10inator »

Back in November 2009, when I saw an Art Attack episode with the ancient Roman stone freeeze, I got the idea to make the Airbus A300-600 out of masking tape. As of now, it's undergoing modifications and will be given some details in the wings, and the right wing is yet to be attached.

Here it is as of now.
