In a little pub in London ...
I'm sure this will be of interest to our fine friends in the colonies. I was in the Crown, a pub on Brewer Street on Saturday night, just prior to dinner with both beloved daughters, and I spotted this on the wall:
I read it, and suddenly the place seemed different somehow. Ghosts maybe ? Nah, but it is Christmas, so Seasons Greetings to everyone across the Pond, both native and ex-pat.

So ho ho ho Everybody!
Re: In a little pub in London ...
I used to live there, in Broadwick St 1974. Sadly they seem to have either torn down or refurbished the building (the wonders of Google Earth). It was a very interesting (if expensive) time. And no I was not a male escort.......

I'm sure you'd look like a million bucks in a tux Alex.. wining and dining women of a certain age in all the finest places. Sure beats the hell out of what I'm doing anyway

Certainly did, Dave, and thank you. After the Crown, we descended into the subterranean splendour of the Brasserie Zedel on, or rather beneath, Sherwood St. The gold leaf and marble opulence is matched by the prices - thirty quid for a bottle of bog standard Beaujolais. I had the tripe sausage in mustard sauce, which brought to mind Mrs Miggins' pie shop in Blackadder 3, where she sold horse's willies to exiled French aristos.DaveB wrote:I think we all know why they flocked to Soho but that's another story

Here's my two darlings, perusing the menu and wine list, safe in the knowledge that dad is paying. Ah well, it's Christmas innit!

If you wish to enjoy their company.. it'll cost ya £30 for a bottle of Bo-jolly is a bit stiff. I hope they didn't have a bottle each While it's fair game to cream a bit off the old man.. it's prudent to consider their inheritance too

Following your advice of being wise, Paul?...
Pay me now.. instead of paying me later.
