ORBX

Post by dodger »

Hi All,

I hope someone may be able to help, i have FTX England and Wales but after installing England i can't get the FTX Central to open at all, i have looked on the net for any help but nothing has worked,

I also have PNW as well and that has installed ok before without any problems, i just don't know what is stopping it, some say it's to do with the registry path for FSX but i have not got a clue about that.

Any help would be appreciated,

Roger.

Hi Rodger,

The usual questions then;

All updates including ORBX libraries installed?

Are you using FTX Central 1 or 2? You should use version 2.

Hi Roger,

Can't offer any other suggestions than those I wrote in this topic I'm afraid.

Hi Colin,

Well i should have known better to re-install the scenery as nothing is working as i said in your link, so Sod it!! give up.

Pretty bad on orbx really and a real shame as over the years i have installed the Demo's they have and my sceneries without any problems, that's what annoys me, Oh well till the next time :wall:

Cheers,

Roger.

Sorry and surprised to hear that Roger and George both had ORBX problems.
I have Australia installed.
Maybe my system is wrecked, but I'm just not noticing it.

I do remember that the tiny FS registry fixer cleaned up a mystery that I had a couple of years back. IIRC it was to do with FSDS interfacing with the sims. It worked a treat.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the post, i did try the tiny FS registry fixer but it did'nt fix it infact i could not get it to run, anyway i have again removed FTX from the flight sim again!!

Other people i have read on the net say it could be to the registry blocking it and also this shift and right clicking on the task bar has not helped, i do not have the FTX icon on the task bar as i can't get it on there using xp if i am reading this right.

Cheers,

Roger.

:hello: Roger,
Like many of the other responders to this and your previous query, I'm on W7.
On my system, FTX2 lives here:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Orbx

I clicked on that and it fired up the same way as using the on-screen icon.
If you have such an entry, but no icon, you should be able to right click, create shortcut, then if necessary, drag that shortcut onto your screen, or cut & paste it there.
Whilst looking into all this, I might add, I was advised to update my library.
Started OK but halfway through, got a message that 577 files failed to download, "don't worry, we'll try again"....BUT when it tried, it crashed FTX.
I'm going to try switching off and try again. :worried: :worried: :worried:

Lodged a query on the support forum, followed their advice, and all is wonderful again.
I do wish you well, Roger.
I know that your OS is different, but as you've bought the darned thing, don't just let it sit idle. Have another crack.
Are you sure that the tiny fix didn't run?
IIRC, it only takes seconds.
