I spent a LOT of time colour matching Invincible to DG's LPH's last year to get rid of the slightly green hue and the end result was quite pleasing. While fudging around with the Sea King, I found a fair HAS.6 shot of an Illustrious cab and remembered I had an Illustrious to go with it. However.. when I loaded it up, I remembered why I didn't use it..
Not sure what Gary was thinking when he settled on that lovely blue colour but it meant Illustrious stood out like a sore thumb. Not only this but he changed the mapping and naming convention so the Invincible paint wouldn't go straight over to Illustrious. Having neither the will nor patience to colour match 47 maps again.. the only alternative was to transfer what I could to Invincible. This puts her in an early fit but hey.. I still have some hair Had a quick dig at the Type23's while I was there too. They were slightly low in the water and the hull numbers needed moving a little

Neither do I.......maybe it's the crab in me......can't beat a bit of Air Force BLOOOOOO!!!!
I never use my early models now I think for the very reasons mentioned they are pretty inaccurate and hideous to manage in how the textures are mapped. Still I suppose they filled a gap.
Maybe Ark colour scheme will be a better match if I ever get round to finishing her.
Still plodding away on Ark V......trying to drag it kicking and screaming from sketchup into Blender. Hopefully I can then add some animations to the radars and AO to get an appropriate shadow effect to the flight deck. I've also started an early version of Invincible circa 1981-82.
Drop me a PM with your e-mail address Dave-I'll send you a test copy of the Ark and you can try her out comparing the new model and textures and let me know if the colour match is any better.
By gum Dave, that's one sure nice aircraft carrier you have, though see what you mean about Garry's paint job....Guess he painted it like that for Med or Pacific Blue Ops, not the grimy waters of the UK!

Nigel.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
