My Christmas Present is Finished!

I finally completed building my Christmas present (2016) given to me by Mrs. FlyTexas. Procrastination thy name is Brian. She kept hinting around during the year about how she hoped I'd like my present. Needless to say I loved it. Behold the Lego Mini Cooper! 1077 pieces.

Our first car (1968) was a Mini Countryman with outside wooden frames which had to be rubbed down and varnished each year.

Funny you should say that... My younger son helped me with the build. The build went something like this. "Ok son, I'll build this page to this page, and then you can build up to this page. (Dad takes another gulp of Merlot) And son, could you double-check my work?"

My first three cars were Mini 1000's. The last being bought brand new. The first two however were somewhat older.
I really like the last photo, showing the transverse 'A' series engine. I know this inside out, upside down and back to front, As I said, my first two Mini's were quite old and I had to do all the maintenance myself (with much help from my Dad). Including my Sister's Mini, I've taken apart and rebuilt just about every part, including 3 total engine strip downs, The only item that I was never brave enough to tackle, was the gearbox (but never had a problem. so not an issue).
As a child, I was also a great Lego fan, so can totally understand your joy with your present.

The Mini model is 4 inches tall, 9 inches in length, and 5 inches wide...although it seems much larger. Specs on the internet show a real world Mini to average about 10 feet in length. The model is quite heavy. Very solid. It's weight including the cardboard box is 2.9 lbs. It's a great model which I can highly recommend.
