Swiss Avro RJ last flight photos

Post by TobyV »

Today I flew on the last ever passenger flight of a Swiss Avro RJ. After many years of service with Crossair and Swiss, the 146/RJ is being replaced by th Bombardier CSeries. [No fewer than] four Captains took us for a sightseeing tour of the Alps. I particularly enjoyed the static takeoff and I think they kept it on the ground up until a higher speed than normal. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Wonderful photos of what must have been a very special day out, thanks for sharing.
I had the pleasure of a flight on a Lufthansa Avro RJ85 some years back (STN-FRA) and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Regards

Kevin

Great pictures, Toby. Love the pictures of the Alps. Something you will remember the rest of your life, I imagine. Thanks for posting.

Fantastic pics, Toby! Every one of them. :welldone: Thanks very much for sharing them with us. :) The pic of the 'thumbs down' Captain made me laugh. There's always one, isn't there?

Thanks for the comments guys.

Brian - I think he was more indicating sadness at the end of the 146/ARJ (for Swiss "Jumbolino") era. They were all off for CSeries conversion starting this week I believe and one of them told me he would return to normal ops on the CSeries starting in October.

Great pictures Toby. She looks like a really clean example too. CityJet still operate the Paris service into EGNT on them, and they are definitely the quietest jet coming in over Tynemouth after all these years. Most of them are wearing basic or no titles these days, so I guess there days are numbered. In the UK I think that will leave the two ETPS aircraft on QQ registrations and the 2? RAF examples. Oh, and do the atmospheric research guys still have their one? That was on a G reg. - [EDIT] G-LUXE with FAAM

Cello Aviation have one, JOTA have about three now.

There's quite a few on the UK register, but many are owned by Falko or other leasing companies and parked up at places like Cranfield, many being ex-Swiss machines having been acquired from BA Cityflyer and now back with their previous G-CFA* registrations:

Two are registered on the Isle of Man:
