Duxford today

I nipped down the road today for a couple of hours...

Just out of shot to the left was a collection of airborne equipment with some bods wearing all the gear and red berets. Some sort of documentary being made, I think:





BAS Twin Otter that's flown north for the ( Antarctic ) winter:





A couple of Duxford's latest acquisition, a Tornado GR4:






That gives Duxford two Tornados - this is the GR1 in the Airspace hangar:






This was the big surprise of the day - TFC's old P-47D 'No Guts,No Glory' has returned to the UK. No idea who owns her the moment, but I hope she stays here. Sorry for the blurry photos.

According to the papertoday some if not all of the Dak thing was veterans of the Parachute Regiment remembering and paying tribute to the 'Flying Flea' motorbike which they took with them when dropped behind enemy lines.

Thanks for that, Simon. Come to think of it, there were some motorbikes standing there. I had assumed the people were WW2 re-enactors, as they were a little young to be wearing period combat gear and holding Sten guns.

I love Duxford. Even on just a quick visit, you still see the most unexpected things. Not so long ago, I went there and found a huge classic car auction being held. There was an immaculate Triumph GT6 which eventually sold for well within my price range. Next time I wont be so tardy.

I have often seen a Twin Otter fly over my home about 3,000ft up, appears to be probably heading towards Humberside Airport and flying away from it.

Only wish I had a camera!!
