EGVN.. Slats and Flaps - 56k warning

Hi Guy's,

A selection of Slats and Flaps taken at Brize yesterday. Unfortunately, the heat haze caused massive probs with autofocus which wasn't too bad as not much was happening anyway. Two hours and I was cooked and only 4 aircraft in that time! :roll:
Anyway.. here they are..

Despite the heat and very light occassional breeze down at ground level, there must have been a nice little layer just a bit higher up. The K3, Tristar and C17 all went nose to the right (toward me) shortly after takeoff.. only the AN124 came in straight, hardly surprising!

The first shot of the VC10 is not a takeoff from standing still.. I'd seen her takeoff as I was melting my way up the A40 (something very satisfying about reaching the top of a hill and seeing a VC10 coming toward you on a takeoff run) She did that rolling run you see in shot 1 (something DM and I have both been very lucky to do in the sim - keeping the nose off the deck then applying more noise!!) and landed to a stop the next time.
First time I'd seen the Tristars in 'low vis - high gloss'!! Hardly seems worth painting them low vis really as you can see the reflection off em for miles!

Anyway.. it was worth it to hear 4 Conways

I love that first shot with the smoke and the haze and the nose wheel up. I suppose it must have been rolling at about 130 knots there. I would have gone up to Brize and seen it myself if I hadn't had to go to work. I should have studied harder at school, become a publican and work my own hours :sad:

I presume you weren't privy to a 'conway crackle', otherwise you'd have said.

I'm very jealous anyway.

So many things wrong and in such a short space of time!!

The 'Little Black Dress' was made famous by Ms Chanel many moons ago and is considered a 'timeless classic'

As for studying harder at school.. I didn't study at all hence that is why I am a publican who, sort of works his own hours (though I'm sure you already realised that) Wednesday, being the quietest day of the week is my day off and for once, it wasn't raining. Been a while since I've been up to Brize so took advantage of the wx with a leasurly ride in the sunshine on the old Z X 9R

Alas.. no crackles at all yesterday but at least you can hear the Conways.. something that cannot be said for the majority of engines that takeoff from Brize

I doubt it Toby though I do have to get back there in the not too distant to return a publication so you never know.. the two may coincide

I loved Concorde as a flyer but as a museum piece.. the interest isn't there mate, especially with DeltaGolf which turned up (as you know) as so many boxes of bits and a hacked fuselage. While I sincerely hope DG will bring additional punters into the museum, all it has done thus far is drain resources. I'm glad it didn't end up as scrap though

[edit] While on the subject of Brooklands.. if anyone knows of a kindly soul who'd like to donate 20gall of engine oil suitable for use in a RR Tyne, I'd be very pleased to hear from you
