CL-44 update?

Post by VEGAS »

Hi all,

This is probably one that Mr Russell will be able to answer but does anyone know whats happening to the CL-44 at Bournmouth?

Whilst browsing Airliners I found this photo from last month which states the CL-44 is due to depart shortly bound for Australia to commence a new life. If so then thats great news but I can't help thinking that this is nonsense and this old girls fate has been sealed already.

I know Garry discussed this particular machine in a CL-44 thread not too long ago.

Anyone shed any light? :dunno:

Hi Eddie

Why would you think it nonsense?

It has been overhauled and re registered.

Photos have appeared with it all cleaned up, complete and with the RP- reg applied as your link shows.

It was bought by Heavylift Australia.

A preservation group also bid for it..so it was to have been spared at the last minuet any way.

Hi Garry,

perhaps I'm so used to people lying to me!

Thats fantastic news.

May she have a long and happy time down under!

Hooray for heavylift. :partyman:

Thing is Eddie in this case the photographic evidence is there.

Even if for some reason it did not enter service it has been the intention all along.

Just prior to this it was dirty and incomplete.

I did check it out as far as possible before the thread a while back in case it was rumour but pics of it taken up to that week supported the story.

I know the photo shows the new reg but that isn't always conclusive evidence. I think what made me doubt the facts was after reading back your old thread on the subject.

Not heard that James  .......but there could be something the CAA are not happy about before she goes.

If there is no doubt it can get sorted.

I would'nt mind knowing what date (if arranged yet) they are intending to fly her out of the UK. Something like that would be worth driving nearly 300 miles for!!
