Which OS?

Post by RAF_Quantum »

HI,

I'm almost at the point of ordering new components to build a new PC. A lot of retailers are now offering OEM versions of Vista. Do I go for Vista and if so which 'flavour'. Alternatively there are still a few retailers offering XP with the 'free' upgrade to Vista.

PC Spec wish list:

Asus P5B Deluxe 965 Socket 775 Motherboard
Core 2 Due E6600
Geil® Ultra DDR2 2.0GB PC6400 Dual Channel Kit (2 x 1GB)
2 x 250GB Samsung SP2504C SATA2 7200rpm
Graphics probably X1950pro and then upgrade later in year to dx10 card

I use Vista Home Premium.. and it's good.

BUT.. It reminds me of WinME.. I'd wait for a service pack. XPSP2 was just fine..

I would back Dan up here.... depends on your "access" to the OS.

If you are going to buy yourself a new OS...wait, and use the one you already have.... If your new system have higher specs that your older system, you'll be positively surprised at your gained performance.

If you have some kind of access to try the other out first, do that.... :-#
