Hi Paul
It's an extra layer in a texture that can make bumps & lines stand out or recess without needing to model the part with it's full detail.
ie: the rivets stick up in full 3d just by texture so it saves framerate over making the rivets with polygons.
Sadly i can't use the system yet as FSDS does not yet support all the new stuff and looks like it will be a long time before it does if ever .
Regards
Rick
