very worthwhile project there are three airports that need modifying in advance of the arrival of Garrys Frightner.

1/. Lydd - retro fitted back to 1950/60s
2/. Weston-Super-Mare Airport as it was in the 50s
3/. Le Touquet Airport same time period
There's also the ones at the French end of the routes!

There was also a short-lived BF route from Southampton to the Isle of Wight (think they used Ryde).

PS Having fond memories of watching Frighteners doing their "bumble-bee" impressions in the sky over Woolston, and still living locally, I would have volunteered to do some research, but I didn't logon yesterday and Ross beat me to it (I'm sure he'll make a much better job of it).

Hi John

Silver City had a short lived Southampton-Bembridge IoW route 1957 or 8

Only lasted the one season. :)

I have found a good (but flawed) Le Tourquet scenery, pop over to the developers section to see if it can fixed or used.

Great work Ross, I would give a lot to be with you, but I suppose I shall just have to spend the day on the beach instead!

Nice work Ross

and the next one is going to be someone in the Liverpool area <wicked grin>

Garry - what I was hoping for was some would volunteer to take a stab at rebuilding Weston Super Mud - as
it was the birth place of the frightner.

I was hoping someone would volunteer to take a stab at the three wheeled bowser in the Air Charter photograph
it sort of goes with the strange ugly aeroplane

Not sure about le Touquet with a train running across the apron though :o

Garry,
I don't know if these are of interest but I came across them in one of the slide boxes. The aircraft (F-BLHH, ex-G-ANWH) was photographed at Oslo in March 1969. It looks as though they've kept the basic Silver City scheme, painted out the British titles and replaced them with the French ones - might be useful for a re-paint I guess. I also have 3 shots of F-BTYO ( a Mk31) at Nice in 1974.

Obviously, these photos have been reduced in size and quality for upload to the forum but, if they're of use let me know and I'll e-mail you some high quality scans.

Cheers Pete

I have lots of pics although not those obviously and they are very nice thanks for that y:)

CAT was Silver City and SNCF Superfreighters were transferred and all kept the Silver City livery except the last two.

This Silver City livery was the one worn when they were transferred so they stayed that way but they did gain an anti dazzle which Silver City did not have.

When the last two were transfered it was BAF days so a solid overpainted BUA/BAF livery was used.

Out of interest the French Superfreighters retained the last letter to remain integrated with the fleet

They were

G-AMWD/F-BKBD
G-ANWG/F-BKBG
G-ANWH/F-BLHH
G-ANWI/F-BKBI
G-ANWM/F-BPIM
G-ANWN/F-BPIN

It was the last two that flew in a BAF type livery. One ,G-ANWM was returned to BAF serivice still in the CAT version with BAF titles for one last season.

I have pics of F-BTYO but if I need anymore I will give you a shout.

It's unlikely the 31 will be soon as the I and 21 are likely to be done first, but even then, they will follow the next project.

If you do have anymore Superfreighter pics they may fill gaps as there were variations especially of Silver City

As for the Air Charte/Channel Air Bridge fleet, I still need a pic of G-AOUU and a port side pic of G-AMSA to see it they had the standard pax door or the narrow Air Charter modified as G-ANVR, G-APAU and G-APAV.

At present I have about 25 potential paints
