Yes indeed matey and I hope not to cause any offence in the ranks but Aer Lingus has always been the National Carrier of Eire.. not the blessed corner of the Emerald Isle many here call home ;-) Folk south of the border are as likely to class themselves British as I am Irish if you get my drift Americans (those south of the border from Canada but on the same bit of road) will not be Canadian but American (as in the U.S of A). Those further up the road will undoubtedly be Canadians and not Americans.

Anyway.. I'm moving into areas that are best left not gone into ;-)

Ireland is often lumped into the UK in the aviation hobby world.

There are civil registeres of the UK and Ireland and Civil Aircraft Markings listed Foreign aircraft that were likely to visit the UK........airliners that is, but since the mid sixties included the complete current Irish register.

Ireland is always thought of as "in the group".

Fine then if we follow this line of thinking Ill go remove ALL Aer Lingus paints at the pond - including Viscount,BAC1-11 etc etc
AS well as the Aer Turas Argosy, Christ on a cross - sometimes I understand why those south of the nine counties get so bloody frustrated with us Brits

I thought they held a place in British aviation History - so I added Davids two DC3's to the ponds library - If it is to cause this much eraction then I'l take the damn things down.

What are you on about? I wasn't having a go at anyone. Just pointing out that the Island of Ireland is classed as part of the British Isles for anyone who didn't know... and believe me, theres a few of them. I wasn't making a political statement, or saying that you (or us for that matter) shouldn't host Irish repaints... think you've got the wrong end of the stick mate. I think I'm pretty well qualified to coment on where I'm from. ;-)

In any case the One-Eleven Viscount and Argosy are British types.......so would be there even if this was not the case.........which it isn't.

firstly knowbody download internet 7, this is the third time i've typed this message and it getting me frustrated. AHH! back to internet six old and slow but works.

ok chaps as i came from lancashire and not to far from the capital of ireland ( Liverpool ) pls lets not have an argument over my comment over ireland being british. what i was trying to say is we flight simmers have very little to pick with the Maam DC3 as to textures for britain and ireland. only four textures for our part of the world and as such we needed more.
as the maam texture set is an easy one for beginners to use and nobody had done aer lingus, i took it to myself to try and repaint these. with great help from other's during my learning process. i did not want to copy john's work and convert to the maam ( that is not cricket in my eyes ). as for the BEA Keyline, i was asked by a member of DC3 Airways if i would do a repaint, if i had not been asked then it would not have been done.
i was asked if i would download to the pond, firstly i was taken that my work was good enough to be submitted to that site. again i was aware as to the nature of the site being british classic files, also of this site. as such i only posted within the none cbfs sections and was posting pictures a method of trying to get my ideas and techs passed on to me from very good teachers.( repainting lessons ).
if any offence has been caused then i'am sorry, these textures were only for me to learn the art of repainting. so can we all sit back and have a :partyman:

I understand - I was wondering what the fuss was all about - Personally I asked David to upload them because I thought they were good enough and
were pertinent to the history of British Aviation that they could be included at CBFiles. Having not been told to excluded things like that and in Robs
absence I asked that they be uploaded and published them - As Garry will testify I am a firm believer in both encouraging and patronising the "Dark
Arts" of this hobby. I felt that Davids work was more than suitable for publication and had that justified by people downloading them, The same can
be said fore Brian (Bridon Bear's) work. and for our local Finn who just joined - If someone is producing good quality paints that are either of British
built aircraft or have a serious connection with British Aviation (as I said I believe that the Fungus DC3s were daily visitors to Liverpool) then they
should be published at CBFiles...Far be it for me to discourage anyone who is capable of producing paints - lord knows I couldnt hold a candle to
any of them. Frankly I was dismayed to see a debate as to what and what shouldnt be allowed on Robs site here of all places which is a cradle of encouragment
and knowledge for fledgling painters, builders and the like. David please feel free to continue to upload to the Pond Im in awe of anyone who can produce
paints - damned if I could do the same , and judging by the downloads at the Pond you have an audience.

There was not, as far as I can see, any debate as to what could and could not be uploaded at the pond.. far from it. My personal view (and that is all it is) is that Aer Lingus are/were not a 'British' airline

You continue to upload whatever you want. You'll never receive any critisism of anything you do over there and likewise, I'd hope not to be ticked off for saying Aer Lingus is not a British airline which, is all I said ;-)
