I only hope it doesn't include the removal of pigeon do-do :roll: The story of my life! :lol:

Looking at the date of Chris's 4 engine run shots I have.. they're date stamped 14 Oct 2006 (off his camera) so yep.. it's coming up to 12months. That's a whole 32nd of my total MLC :lol:

On the subject of pidgeon do do..........does the acid in that have a direct affect on the frame?.

My Mum had a Peugeot 204 years ago full of bullet hole looking rust holes.

it was caused by seagull poop on the car in it's earlier days burning through the paint.

OK they must have used bad paint as it only happen do those 204's sold about 1972 ish but it makes you wonder what in some of this stuff :think:

Also makes me wonder with what seagulls do to ships why the back end is called the poop deck :roll: :lol: :lol:

:o :o

Well mate, it's a health hazard as much as anything else but poop deck (derived from the French 'la poupe') is usually above where El Capitano lived so it could be considered a hazard too under the wrong circumstances :lol:

As Steve got this AP working yet I wonder :think:

Btw.. if I see pigeon droppings on the car, I remove it asap due to it's corrosive nature ;-)

Hi Guys,

I suspect unlike Steve the rest of us will still be using the last beta of the unreleased V4 :o

The other day I couldnt get the heron beta comm/nav radiod to work, so i took out the dtandby and glideslope flags and all was well again, ie

Com.1=1
nav.1=1
etc.

The original autopilot was wery basic i seem to remember so it shouldn't present problems if the master and power switches are on and the ready lamp comes on ( this goes out again upon the first mode engagement).

cheers

In the case of the invertors.. an orange lamp shining is an obvious indication something isn't right so you go looking for an answer.. well, I do anyway :lol:

Fraser.. I use both panels mate.. the new version on the VC9's and the older one on the Merchantmen. Add's that little bit of interest ;-)

Dave,
Don't forget to bleed the fuel system before attempting a start up, also a good idea to function the B.V.R.C.U. WHILE the
bleeding is taking place, just put a long screw driver inside the spring pot,(attached to the bleed valve) and push to compress the spring, after all that time standing the engine might stall on start up!, that's cutains for the LP compressor!.

As for corrosion, if it's going to be a while between runs, we always motored them over and sprayed WD40 into the intakes,
always worked a treat, Major checks were carried out by E.A.S. in Perpignan and that could take 3 months, I was company rep and had to stay there right through, God how boring it gets on those topless beaches with nowt to do but drink wine!. :partyman:

Robbie.

Hiya Robbie! :)

I'm just an erk mate so the tech stuff I leave to those who worked on them 'live' (eg.. the old gits) but bleeding the 1 & 4 engines is a pre-requisite due to a) the dihedral of the outer wings and b) the age of the seals.. everything runs downhill :lol: We've tried using tanks 1 and 4 and the little tinkers are empty a week later :roll: H&S has become such an issue that even turning the engines over off the batteries is a no-no without the written consent of every man and his aunt and you'd be surprised how many 'spies' there are wandering around :o

The boys are pretty much on top of corrosion (as much as a bunch of retired old men can be) and the 'regular' spots where water can get in are checked regularly ;-) I get the impression the 'powers that be' aren't really interested in engine runs so you can see what we're up against :-(

Old leaky seals..corrosion spots.....water getting in......... :$

Simliar to my last medical report :lol: :lol: :lol:

Seriously though Dave, without the full, active ,and determned support of the powers that be you guys are in a difficult situaltion and as to H&S.well all they are doing is creating a nice safe world in which no one can live in as nothing can be done.........just in case :dunno: .

I wish people would really wake up and do something about this :@
