AMD Opteron 146
a search showed it to be single core 2Ghz
Never heard of one of those before, checked it out and the CPU I have should at least equal the results. I agree Ben I will not waste money on FSX add-ons, like I say I just want to use it for UK based stuff using stock planes panels etc, if I want excitement then I will use FS9.1. I was only tempted back to FSX due to Horizon offering me a good deal :)

The Opteron is a Server processor Tony, hence why its not common in PC's ;-)

Cheers Ben , all these names are confusing, much better when it was a pentium 4 and an AMD Athlon
So with dual core cpu's if it says its a 5ghz that means each core runs at 5 ghz not 2,5 on each?

If your looking at CPU's Tony, post details on here first, someone will be gald to explain.

Basicly different websites specify the processor spec in different ways, which doesn't help the punter buying it.

usually the specify the speed and the number of cores e.g. Dual Core 2.66 would be 2 cores running at 2.66GHz on the one chip. To Confuse things further, my chip is an Intel Core2 Extreme... the Core2 doesn't mean its got 2 cores, its actually got 4!! Confussed yet... I know I was when I was trying to buy one.

So... post details here and we'll tell you what it means. ;-)

Thanks Ben, I doubt if the budget will allow an upgrade of CPU and Motherboard for some time though.. so I wont be hassling you for a while :D
