Re: HS748 in FSX
Hi Guys,
The 748 isn't capable of reverse pitch, the lowest setting is the 0' ground fine pitch stop. The Andover HS.780 is the only Dart powered aeroplane which has a reverse pitch capability, you'll see that the controls on the quadrant are different to that on the 748. It also has a removable cruise pitch stop in addition to the flight fine pitch stop.
cheers
Fraser

Re: HS748 in FSX
Thanks Fraser, That makes sense. With the extra flap setting and reverse pitch on the Andover (HS780) it can stop on a tuppence.
Ben.

Re: HS748 in FSX
If the 748 does not have reverse propellor pitch, how come it sounds like it does when I test it before take off (when that stop lock is OFF)?

Re: HS748 in FSX
This is becomming a very long thread.
the noise is correct for when the blades hit Ground Pitch Fine (aerodynamic Braking mode).
It all works perfectly here.
You cannot assign the lever to a button as it's a custom animation tag that FS9 FSX does not have.

Re: HS748 in FSX
the engines rpm's rise because the pitch set to zero removes the load on the engine ,
which hapens for me if i click on the unlock or not. .
just completed a flight from miami to stuart max alt. 13000 , full throttle, 100% fuel setting,
no gens no battery on.

Re: HS748 in FSX
It has fine pitch, which will sound similar. Having stood next to many a 748 at the freight ramp on edinburgh I can confirm this sound is accurate.Mogget wrote:If the 748 does not have reverse propellor pitch, how come it sounds like it does when I test it before take off (when that stop lock is OFF)?

Re: HS748 in FSX
Hi Guys
the reason you get the sound of fine pitch sometimes on a closed throttle is the fact that Flightsim 9 & 10 etc cannot tell the difference
unless it's actual reverse pitch so the sound is not intelligently controlled
so you will hear it at zero quite often but not always for some reason.

Re: HS748 in FSX
No problem, guys. I will just make sure that I fly the 748 to and from the airports with nice, long runways ;-)
Re: HS748 in FSX
The reverse propellor pitch worked a few minutes ago when I landed the Omega Express 748 at Kemble!
By the way, is there a "clean" texture version of the wing flaps? By that, I mean I would prefer not to have the dirty area just behind the engine exhaust outlets. In addition, I assume that the Omega Express 748 is supposed to have two different textures for the propellor blades? The right one has black and white chequered blades, but the left one is light grey with yellow tips.

Re: HS748 in FSX
Hi Mogget, compare it with the 780... its not proper reverse, its only fine pitch. The 780 has reverse. Try it and you'll see what I mean. Given that all the 748 have the same panel, the omega one can't be different to any of the others.
The Omega one has different prop textures which is correct. In actual fact some of the other emmerald aircraft also had this at times as bits were swapped between aircraft. If you can find a 748 anywhere that had "clean flaps" other than before its first flight you'd be doing well, so no, there aren't any "clen" flap texture as they weren't clean in real life ;-)
