Hi Leif

I've noticed the nose down on approach but that one at least seems to flare flat.......The Heralds and 748 were well down on the nose as was the Vanguard on approach but pulled up in the flare to touch down slightly nose high

Having said that I've seen Heralds touch down on the nose wheel more than once :o :worried:

I wish I'd seen Brits live :-(

I was operating Vanguards, as a First Officer, into Renfrew at that time...I remember a bit of a hump where you would normally touch down and it was a bit difficult to decide what to do...Touch down just before the bump and you would be flung into the air again...Touch down after the bump and you had less distance to stop :worried:

Hi Peter

:o

Did you ever fly into the two shortest Vanguard destinations......Belfast and Guernsey?

Garry,

The short airport I found most worrying and difficult in the Vanguard, mainly because it always seemed to be at night in bad weather, was Gothenburg. :worried:

I did actually go there once in a Trident :o I think it must have been so bad that my memory has blanked it out :worried:

Hi Peter

Sounds interesting to sound the least

I have a BEA pilots notes for the Vanguard and it mentions lowering the tyre pressure for flights to GCI due to bearing strength...was this actually done in practice?
